INTRODUCTION

Dearborn Cardigan was one of two garments I originally designed for the Nomadic Knits Magazine Issue Seven: Michigan. The other is the Mile Road Tank photographed with Dearborn Cardigan.

As I have called Michigan home for some time now, I was honored to be invited to contribute to this issue. This issue was released during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 so there were creative ways this issue came together, including the pattern designers, like me, who got to model the designs which were photographs included in the magazine (pictured below).

I collaborated with Corinne of Hawari Bazaar Yarn Co. for this design! Corinne was born and raised in Dearborn, Michigan. Because of our partnership, I named this cardigan after her home.

Finding the right ease for you, a guideline:

  1. Measure around your chest at the fullest/widest point.

  2. Grab one of your favorite cardigans. Measure the top flat, at about 1"/ 2.5 cm below the armhole. Multiply by 2 to get the top’s circumference.

  3. (Top Circumference – Full Chest = Ease) If negative number, that’s negative ease. If it is a positive number, that’s positive ease.

Sample photographed is Size 4 with 3”/7.5 cm of positive ease at chest.

Pay What You Choose:

In order to make my designs more financially accessible but still valuing the work it takes to create these patterns, I am implementing a “Pay What You Choose” model. These prices indicate the fair amount that has been put into the designs and hopefully can become a sustainable way for me to keep creating hand knitting patterns.

Listed are the codes and the price you will be paying next to them:

No Code: $12.50

TTierA: $10.50

TTierB: $9.50
